 6.0-magnitude earthquake jolts Different cities, including Islamabad


ISLAMABAD: An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted several cities of the country, including the federal capital Islamabad.

According to details, earthquake tremors were felt once again in different cities of the federal capital Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The tremors were felt in Islamabad and Rawalpindi as well as different cities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province including Peshawar, Swat, Batgram, Dir Bala, Swabi, Malakand, Kohat, Lower Dir, Buner, Mohmand, Mardan and Charsadda.

Scared by the earthquake, citizens came out of their homes reciting the Word of Tayyaba.

The earthquake measured 6.0 on the Richter scale, the epicentre of the quake was on the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border and the depth of the earthquake was 223 kilometers underground, the Seismological Center said.

Earlier in March, strong tremors were felt in different cities of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, including the capital Islamabad.

On the night of March 22, an earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale was recorded in Afghanistan.

Nine people were killed and 9 injured in khyber Pakhtunkhwa while 44 houses were partially damaged.
