LAHORE: A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been formed to probe the arson and vandalism at Jinnah House.

According to details, the Punjab Home Department has formed a JOINT Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate the case of vandalism and arson in Jinnah House Lahore.

The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification stating that SP Investigation Iqbal Town Aqeela Niaz Naqvi has been appointed as the convener of the JIT.

Four other police officers have also been appointed as members of the JIT, the notification said.

The jit members include DSP Masoom Ali, Inspector Mohammad Arham, Sub-Inspector Javed and Sub-Inspector Shahbaz Akhtar.

It may be recalled that on May 9, miscreants attacked jinnah house Lahore and set it on fire, after which the identification of the attackers is going on.

Two days ago, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) had remanded 16 miscreants involved in the Jinnah House vandalism case to the commanding officer under the Military Act.

The commanding officer had sought the custody of 16 miscreants under the Military Act, after which the anti-terrorism court responded promptly to the request of the commanding officer and detained the miscreants involved in the demolition of Jinnah House.

16 suspects, including former MEMBER Provincial Assembly (MPA) Mian Akram Usman, were handed over to the Commanding Officer for further action.

The verdict said that the accused could be tried under the Army Act 1952, the prosecution did not object to the commander's request.
